Based on our international experience in management consulting across multiple industries and capabilities, we fostered the M&A area as a natural extension of what we are used to doing, matching investors (buyers) with sellers of companies (or assets) and supporting either the buyer or the Seller in accomplishing the most successful transaction.


HQN acted as an advisor in M&A transactions, both for Portuguese companies selling their companies to foreign buyers and international buyers aiming to acquire Portuguese companies.


Mergers & Acquisitions services encompass three perspectives:


Acquiring a company: When we are commissioned by the investors (buyers) to find a portfolio of companies or assets that fits their investments profile, supporting them in targeting, engaging (LOI), valuating (buy-side DD) and helping them through negotiations to ensure successful deals.


Selling a Company: When we are commissioned by the owners (vendors) to find Investors (buyers) to acquire the total or part of the selling capital.  Being an adviser of the sell-side, we can provide Vendor Due-Dilligence and support in negotiations as well;


Merger: When we are commissioned to support the merger process of two or more companies.

HQN has been providing management consulting in two main and distinct areas of investments: early stage and late-stage companies. In both, we have different approaches in assessing and investment type.

As Venture Capital (early stage), typically our investors commit from $0.5m to $5m, mostly focused on IoT Sensors (across multiples industries) and Clean Tech with a high growth and profit potential.

As Private Equity (late stage), typically private investors commit capital that ranges from $5m to $50m (in some particular cases it can reach $400m) across profitable and sustainable operations in a diverse range of industries.


Early Stage Investment

HQN is commissioned to seek, assess and present to private investors emerging and expansion-stage profitable IoT Sensors and Clean Tech companies in Portugal and Europe with a long-term investment approach with access to an international network of capital sources.

HQN is seeking early stage companies with disruptive value proposition requiring capital to support operations and R&D aiming to reach high potential growth. We are commissioned to find out Venture Capital investment opportunities in the following areas:




1. Internet of things (IoT) 

We are interested in being introduced to exceptional companies and individuals that have prototypes or operations within the Internet of Things, in particular sensor areas with established standards that will raise our value as an industry. The IoT is an incredible highly potential growth area that could turn a small investment into big unicorn companies.

2. Clean Tech

Late Stage Investment

HQN is also seeking profitable late stage companies with high potential of scale-up and upside the return.
